According to the FHP, the DeLand man was driving a Toyota Tacoma south on Shell Road and “failed to yield from the stop sign and began turning left” onto S.R. 44.
Troopers said the Tacoma entered the direct path of a 2023 Ram 2500, which was traveling west on S.R. 44.
The front of the Ram struck the left side of the Tacoma, the FHP said.
The DeLand man was pronounced dead at the scene, according to an FHP crash report.
Troopers identified the victim as Bob Hallett, who is the founder and CEO of Skydive DeLand.
The Ram driver, an Edgewater man, and his passenger were taken to AdventHealth DeLand with non-life-threatening injuries, troopers said.
Eastbound and westbound lanes of S.R. 44 at the intersection of Shell Road were blocked while troopers investigated the deadly wreck.
This crash remains under investigation.
On Wednesday, the City of DeLand announced Hallett’s passing on social media.
