ORLANDO, Fla. – After nearly a month on strike, over 900 union members in Orlando and Denver have voted to ratify a new contract with Lockheed Martin.

Under the agreement, workers will receive general wage increases totaling 19.3% over the contract’s duration. Additionally, wages have been raised from $15 to $20 an hour. Workers can now expect annual increases of $1 (per hour) for each year of service or more, compared to the previous increase of just 60 cents.

“I’m proud of our members,” said UAW Region 8 Director Tim Smith. “They had the courage and the unity to stand up to a real corporation like Lockheed. We will continue to stand strong with the Lockheed Martin workers, and we will never give up on the American Dream.”

In May, the chairperson for Orlando’s UAW branch, Cherrie Bowen of Local 788, told News 6 this was the first time there has been a strike at the facility off Sand Lake Road.
