BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – A 27-year-old Volusia County man faces murder and child abuse charges in the 2021 death of his 2-month-old son, according to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.
Donovan Winter is being held without bond at the Brevard County jail.
An investigation began on June 1, 2021, when deputies responded to a residence in Merritt Island, where the baby was found dead.
According to a news release, the boy was taken to the Brevard County Medical Examiner’s Office and an autopsy determined that the child died from multiple blunt-impact head injuries.

“After an extremely thorough investigation by our Homicide Unit, it was determined that Winter, who is the father of the decedent, was responsible for causing the injuries that led to the child’s death,” the release stated.
Winter was arrested with the assistance of U.S. Marshals and members of the Brevard County GAMEOVER Task Force.
Winter was arrested on charges of murder and aggravated child abuse.
