Shark bites Winter Park surfer off New Smyrna Beach

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. – A surfer was taken to an area hospital Sunday after suffering a shark bite.
Volusia County Beach Safety officials say the 40-year-old man was surfing off New Smyrna Beach when he was bitten by a shark.
He was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
We’re working to find out more information, such as where exactly the man was on New Smyrna Beach.
This is the second reported shark encounter in New Smyrna Beach in the past month.
A surfer said an airborne spinner shark knocked him off his board in June.
