VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – A man was found guilty and sentenced to life in prison this week in the fatal shooting of a 24-year-old at a Daytona Beach apartment complex in 2023.
Danitto Simpson was convicted of first-degree murder in the death of Donnell Williams, 24, during a four-day trial.
According to the state attorney’s office, Simpson and the victim were arguing in the courtyard of an apartment complex when Simpson pulled out a gun and shot Williams in the stomach. While Williams was running away, Simpson chased him and shot him again from the back.
Williams later died at the hospital.
Immediately following the trial, Judge Karen Foxman sentenced Simpson to life in prison.
