Incident happened in 5500 block of Lido St.

ORLANDO, Fla. – A one-week-old baby was found abandoned in an Orlando driveway on Monday morning, according to a news release.

Orlando police said the newborn boy was discovered in a car seat in the driveway of a home located in the 5500 block of Lido Street around 7:20 a.m.

According to the release, the baby was taken to the hospital for treatment and is currently in good health.

Police are now looking for the parents.

“The Orlando Police Department reminds all parents and caregivers that the Safe Haven Law exists to provide a safe, legal, and anonymous option for surrendering newborns. Parents can safely leave an infant with someone at designated locations, such as a hospital, a staffed fire rescue station, or a staffed emergency medical service station, with no questions asked, anonymously, and without fear of prosecution,” the release read in part.

A neighbor in the area called the situation instead.

“This is the hottest day of the year. It’s insane. I mean, from what we know, might have been during the night. So hopefully the mom and the baby are OK,” resident Nolan Clark said.

Orlando police are asking anyone with information on the baby or their parents to contact them immediately at 321-235-5300 or submit an anonymous tip by calling Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS (8477) or by visiting crimeline.org.

No other information was released.
