VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office released body camera video revealing the arrest of a man wanted in connection with a Cocoa shooting that killed a 15-year-old girl and injured two others during a traffic stop on Interstate 4.

Along with Jonterich Smith, 20, who had active warrants, the driver was arrested for violating the state’s “Super Speeder” law, deputies said.

Inside the vehicle, deputies found two firearms: a handgun with an extended magazine and an AR-15-style pistol.

Smith was wanted for first-degree premeditated murder and two counts of aggravated battery with a firearm in Brevard County. Deputies had no prior knowledge of Smith’s identity when they stopped the vehicle.

Karyah Duncan of Cocoa was found on Oct. 6, shot outside of Anchors Seafood and Chicken restaurant on Clearlake Road and taken to the hospital, where she later died.

Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey said they also have an active warrant and are looking for 20-year-old Xazavier Butler, who will face the same charges in the shooting.

Smith faced a Brevard County judge on Tuesday. He is being held in the Brevard County jail on no bond.
