BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – A second arrest was made in the October “ambush” shooting outside a Cocoa restaurant that killed a 15-year-old girl and injured two others.

The sheriff’s office announced Thursday that Xazavier Butler, 20, was arrested in the death of Karyah Duncan, who was shot outside of Anchors Seafood and Chicken restaurant on Clearlake Road. Duncan was one of three people shot.

Smith and Butler were both indicted earlier this week on murder charges. The two suspects were also charged with attempted first-degree murder while inflicting bodily harm for the two other victims, 18-year-old men, who were injured in the shooting.

Sheriff Wayne Ivey described the shooting as an “ambush” and that it was an “extremely isolated incident.”

The sheriff’s office said the three victims were in a vehicle in the parking lot of the restaurant when a dark colored SUV pulled behind them, blocking their exit.

Multiple people exited the SUV and began shooting toward the vehicle and the occupants who were attempting to exit it, officials said.

The assailants - Smith, Butler and a third unidentified person - then got back into the SUV and left the area prior to the arrival of deputies, officials said. The SUV has since been recovered.

Anyone with information in the case is asked to call Crimeline at 800-423-8477 or the sheriff’s office at 321-633-8413.
