ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – Disney has filed roughly a dozen lawsuits against Orange County over what it has described as “excessive” assessments on several of its properties.
Court records show that these properties include all four theme parks, several different resorts, and even the failed Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser hotel.

The myriad lawsuits accuse Orange County Property Appraiser Amy Mercado of failing to use “professionally accepted appraisal practices” when assessing the company’s properties, leading to bloated tax bills.
In addition, the lawsuit argues that several of these assessments were higher than the market values of these properties, as well as that Mercado included the value of “certain intangible property” in violation of state law.
However, the lawsuits don’t mention what that intangible property might be.
Regardless, Disney is now pushing to overturn its 2025 tax bills and implement an “appropriate appraisal methodology.”
