CASSELBERRY, Fla. – The frustration surrounding the Minneapolis driver shot and killed by ICE officers this week has sparked thousands of protests nationwide, including here in Central Florida.
Protesters lined Triplet Lake Drive and U.S. 17-92 in Casselberry, saying the ICE officers involved in Renee Good’s death need to be held accountable.
Similar demonstrations popped up Saturday morning near I-4 in Orlando, and in Minneapolis — among hundreds of protests happening across the country this weekend in response to the deadly shooting.

“I hope that this is a sign that it is not us versus us; together it’s us versus them,” said Makayla Moseby, a Seminole County resident.
Many protesters are calling for the ICE officer who shot and killed Good to be held accountable.
“He needs to be arrested and tried for his crimes. He had no reason to think he was in any harm,” said Darryl Malcolm, also a Seminole County resident.
Good was shot in the head Wednesday morning in south Minneapolis during a federal ICE operation.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said the officers acted in self-defense.
“It puts our officers’ lives in jeopardy, but they are there enforcing our laws and protecting public safety when it comes to federal law,” Noem said.
Noem claimed Good attempted to run officers over with her vehicle and has called the incident an act of “domestic terrorism.”
Other top officials also weighed in, including Vice President JD Vance, who said, “She was trying to run this guy over with her car. He shot — he defended himself.”
Demonstrators said they don’t believe that account and argue the narrative is being distorted, saying leaders are “purposely making it difficult to keep America from being what it is.”
They are also calling for the Trump administration to roll back its crackdown on immigration.

More demonstrations are expected in Central Florida Sunday, including in Orlando and Cocoa Beach, as protesters continue to react to the shooting in Minneapolis.
