“After carefully monitoring conditions and assessing our school facilities throughout the day and evening, the only school that still remains to have a facility issue due to the extreme cold is Summerlake Elementary,” officials clarified after originally saying that two schools would be closed.
Teams have been working around the clock to address the impacts of the freezing temperatures, and we are grateful for their tremendous efforts to ensure our buildings are safe and ready for students and staff.
The district acknowledged the challenges the cold weather has created for families across the community and urged students, parents and staff to dress warmly and use extra caution while traveling Monday morning.
Officials said they will continue monitoring conditions overnight and will notify families if any major issues arise at individual schools. The district emphasized that the safety and well-being of students and staff remain its top priority.
