ORLANDO, Fla. – The suspect in the shooting death of a retired Orlando police officer last month has been indicted by a grand jury, records show.
Jeffery London, 59, was indicted Tuesday on a charge of first-degree murder with a firearm in the fatal shooting of Dennis Turner, 64, who died at a hospital after being shot at a home on Kozart Street on New Year’s Day.
London is Turner’s father-in-law, police said. Investigators believe the shooting occurred during a family dispute.

London was arrested after fleeing the area, police said, adding he was found with the help of law enforcement officers in Polk and Highland counties.
Turner was a 23-year veteran of the agency who retired in 2018 and returned to the department in 2019 as a reserve officer. He was later fired from the reserve-officer position after the police chief determined he violated an agency policy in taking two children into custody during separate incidents.
