OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. – Officials from the Osceola County Fire Rescue and the Florida Forest Service are responding to a brush fire on Saturday afternoon.

Crews said the fire was burning in the Suburban Estates area near Holopaw.

As of 5:30 p.m., the fire was reported to be about 500 acres and was 30% contained, according to fire officials, but around 7 p.m. officials said that most of the active fire is “within the containment area at this time.”

Officials said there is no official evacuation taking place at the moment.

“Containment operations are ongoing; campers and visitors in the immediate vicinity of the Suburban Estates area should exercise caution and follow directions from emergency personnel in the event they are in a risk area,” Osceola County Fire Rescue said on social media.

Officials said that smoke may be present in the area and residents should call 911 they see thick chimneys of smoke or flames in nearby brush.

The cause of the fire is unknown and will be under investigation by FFS, but fire containment is currently the main priority currently, according to fire officials.

Florida Forest Service units will remain on scene reinforcing containment lines and addressing spot fires in the vicinity.
