ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – After a hectic car chase broke out along SR-408 this week, troopers have now revealed the driver’s identity.
In a release, the FHP told News 6 that a trooper spotted a red Kia speeding along the highway on Wednesday afternoon.
“When the trooper attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the vehicle fled, and a pursuit began,” the release reads.
The vehicle began weaving in and out of traffic as it sped away — at times over 100mph — though the trooper was eventually able to use a PIT maneuver to bring the car to a stop, the release shows.
After the Kia was taken down, the driver — identified as Damien Mieles, 21 — fled on foot into the woods, investigators reported.
An arrest report shows that Miele was told to stop or be Tasered, though Miele just responded, “(Expletive) you” and continued running away.
It wasn’t until Miele tried to jump over a chain link fence that the trooper was able to catch up and deploy a Taser, ultimately allowing the trooper to bring Miele into custody, the report states.

Meanwhile, investigators said that nearly five pounds of marijuana was found in the trunk of the Kia.
Now, Mieles faces charges of fleeing law enforcement at high speed, driving with a suspended license, drug possession, resisting arrest without violence, and violating probation. He is held without bond.
