ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A 17-year-old boy has been accused of first-degree murder after another teen was killed back in November, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
In a release, deputies said they initially responded to a hit-and-run crash near the 2800 block of Wakulla Way on Nov. 20, when 17-year-old Mikhail Cuba was struck by a car and left in critical condition.
Cuba ultimately died from his injuries around three days later.
While the Florida Highway Patrol was originally responsible for investigating what happened, the case was turned over to the sheriff’s office after surveillance footage indicated that Cuba was “struck intentionally,” deputies added.

“That turned this investigation from a vehicular manslaughter to a premeditated murder,” the release reads.
On Friday afternoon, detectives announced the arrest of 17-year-old Elijah Richard Emmans on a charge of first-degree murder. He was taken into custody and transported to the Juvenile Assessment Center.
