WEST MELBOURNE, Fla. – Police in West Melbourne Tuesday asked people to avoid the area of I-95 and U.S. 192 while they investigated a disturbance.
Police units were at the America’s Best Value Inn, where they said there were unconfirmed reports of shots fired in a room.
Two people were removed from the room and the situation has been resolved as the investigation continues.
Police told your West Melbourne 6 Community Correspondent, James Sparvero, that inside that room at 9:30 Tuesday morning, something happened between a woman and a teenage girl that led to a shot being fired.
Another person at the hotel, who told Sparvero he’s related to them, said the woman is the girl’s mother.
The windows of the room were smashed.
Police didn’t say if the SWAT team broke them or the people in the room.
A News 6 viewer recorded video of the SWAT team standing outside the room’s door.
Hotel guest Mohammed Abuayyash told Sparvero he was afraid.
“Of course I was,” he said. “I didn’t know what’s happening, you know.”
Police said to expect more information in an upcoming press release. Stick with News 6 and ClickOrlando.com for all updates.
