COCOA BEACH, Fla. – A 19-year-old was jailed this week after brandishing a water gun outside a Denny’s Restaurant in Cocoa Beach, according to the police department.

In an arrest affidavit, police said they were called to the restaurant along Atlantic Avenue on Monday evening in reference to an “armed disturbance.”

Upon arrival, they learned that the man — identified as Talan Hall, 19 — had been behind the parking lot with friends, while several underage boys were riding e-bikes in a clear lot.

“The juveniles and (Hall), plus his male friend, began to speak back and forth to each other,” the affidavit reads. “(Hall) and his male friend began to get agitated with the juveniles. (Hall) walked over to the grass where the juveniles were located and picked up a shopping cart, then slammed it on the ground.”

Afterward, Hall began to walk away, but moments later, more yelling broke out between Hall and the group of boys, causing him to walk back and pull out what looked like a black pistol, police wrote.

Hall then loosely aimed the “weapon” near the boys, though unknown to them, it was really just a water gun, police added.

“I asked the victims if they believed the weapon was real and if they feared for their lives,” the affidavit continues. “The victims confirmed that they believed the weapon was real and someone was going to get hurt and die.”

As a result, police arrested Hall, who now faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill and improper exhibition of a dangerous weapon.
