Tony Award-winning ‘Kimberly Akimbo’ making stop in Orlando

Broadway sensation explores family, illness and teen angst

ORLANDO, Fla. – A new Broadway musical about growing up and growing old is making a stop in the City Beautiful.

Kimberly Akimbo” first premiered in 2021 off-Broadway in Manhattan before making its official Broadway debut in 2022.

A year later, the show took home five Tony Awards, including Best Musical and Best Original Score.

At its heart, “Kimberly Akimbo” is the story of Kim, a teenager on the verge of turning 16 who has recently relocated with her family to suburban New Jersey.

Set in 1999, Kim navigates the turbulent waters of family dysfunction, a rare genetic condition that accelerates her aging, her first crush and possible felony charges.

Through it all, Kim is determined to find happiness against all odds and chase what promises to be a great adventure.

The show is recommended for ages 13 and up.
