VIDEO: Car fatally rams into golf cart at The Villages intersection

Crash report says cart driver failed to yield the right-of-way

THE VILLAGES, Fla. – News 6 has obtained new footage of a brutal wreck involving a golf cart in The Villages late last month.

The video — submitted by viewer Robert Serina — shows the crash near the intersection of Martinez Drive and North Morse Boulevard, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

In a crash report, troopers said the incident happened around noon on March 30.

At the time, the golf cart was headed south along Morse Boulevard, but it failed to yield while making a left-hand turn, leading to the crash, troopers wrote.

As a result, the cart overturned, and the driver was ejected, the report shows.

The report states that the golf cart driver — identified as Michael Day, 75, of Maine — suffered “incapacitating” injuries. However, FHP later confirmed to News 6 that Day succumbed to his injuries.

Meanwhile, the other driver suffered non-incapacitating injuries, troopers added.
