VIERA, Fla. – For a second day in a row, the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office is digging a huge hole, but what exactly are they looking for?
For the past 24 hours, all the sheriff’s office has said is that it’s digging for evidence related to a case.
We don’t know what kind of evidence, and we don’t know what case.
Bystander Ryan Brown said he’s never seen anything like it in Viera.
Brown told your Viera Community Correspondent James Sparvero he saw the dig from I-95 and was so curious he decided to pull over and get a closer look.
Along with thousands driving on 95, shoppers at the busy Avenue outdoor mall are right next to the action, too.
Brown said at first, he thought maybe something was under construction.
“We were thinking that maybe they were building something, maybe they were doing a groundbreaking, or maybe something happened over there, and they were trying to figure out what’s going on,” Brown said.

After reaching the site of the dig, Brown became more aware of the situation.
He noticed all the crime scene trucks parked near the dig.
“So that tells me that something happened, maybe there was some foul play or something,” Brown said.
Sparvero asked the sheriff’s office specifically what it’s looking for and what case this is related to.
He also asked if investigators have found anything by now.
