‘Welcome to Rockville’ reopens gates after severe weather in Daytona Beach

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – “Welcome to Rockville” in Daytona Beach has reopened its gates after being put on pause due to severe weather heading into the region, according to organizers.

In a release, event organizers initially urged visitors to “calmly proceed to the nearest exit.”

“If you camped, please return to the campgrounds and shelter in your vehicle,” the release reads. “If you parked, please exit the venue and take shelter in your vehicle or in the grandstands (Turn 1 Entrance).”

Meanwhile, all other attendees were asked to exit and seek shelter in the grandstands.

A severe weather alert was issued for Northeastern Volusia County shortly before 7 p.m. on Friday, and it to expired around 7:45 p.m.

That said, organizers announced shortly after 8:30 p.m. that the gates were reopened.

“Please make your way calmly and safely back into the festival,” organizers wrote. “Performances will resume shortly.”
