Bicyclist killed in Orange County crash near Orange Blossom Trail, FHP says

Crash happened on Shader Road, troopers said

ORLANDO, Fla – A bicyclist died after being hit by a an SUV Friday night near Shader Road and Orange Blossom Trail, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the crash happened about 7:44 p.m. May 15.

According to an FHP press release, a 2023 Kia Telluride was traveling east on Shader Road when the bicyclist was traveling west in the eastbound travel lane.

Troopers said the bicyclist was in the SUV’s direct path and the vehicle struck him.

The bicyclist, a 67-year-old man from Orlando, was taken to AdventHealth Orlando, where he was pronounced dead, FHP said.

The SUV driver and two passengers, all 18-year-olds from Orlando, were not taken to a hospital and stayed at the scene, troopers said.

The crash remains under investigation.
