SHARPES, Fla. – The dog owner who was arrested a week after her loose dogs killed a woman, according to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, won’t be able to leave jail.
Linda Cutler, 29, faced a judge Thursday on a manslaughter charge.
Last week, the sheriff’s office said Cutler’s dogs, Max and Mako, got out of Cutler’s yard on Blue Bonnet Drive and attacked Jodi Cowan, who was walking her own dog.
Neighbors told your Sharpes Community Correspondent James Sparvero it wasn’t the first time the dogs were loose and bit someone, so James checked and found Cutler got two tickets before for animals at large.
On Facebook, Sheriff Wayne Ivey addressed Cowan’s death for the first time saying the previous loose dog complaints were about different dogs Cutler had, and according to the sheriff, animal services couldn’t take Max and Mako away from Cutler earlier because state law didn’t allow them.

Dominica Midkiff, who’s camera recorded it all, said when Cutler went to jail for a month in December (that was related to drugs) neighbors were taking care of her dogs.
“The dogs were being fed, they were being watered, and they were being sheltered,” Midkiff said.
Cowan’s longtime boyfriend, Donnell Smith, called Cutler a good person and a caring person because he said they were friends.
Sparvero asked if he’d be ready to forgive her.
“I’ll have to think about that one,” Smith answered. “I’m not vindictive towards her. I don’t want anything evil happening to her, but to forgive her is gonna take a little work.”
Judge David Koenig would’ve granted Cutler a $250,000 bond, but because of the previous time she was arrested, her bond was revoked and now she has to stay in jail.
She’s also not allowed to have pets again, and as for her dogs Max and Mako, Sheriff Ivey said they’ll be put down.
