Gunman kicks down front door of Volusia home, fires and flees, sheriff says

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – A Central Florida man was arrested on Monday after he reportedly fired into a local home, according to the Volusia Sheriff’s Office.

In a release, deputies said they responded to the home in Daytona Beach around 5:30 a.m. after receiving a call that the man — identified as Bernard Millsap, 26 — had kicked down the door.

From there, deputies said they learned that Millsap broke inside, fired a handgun and fled.

That said, no one was shot or injured during the incident, the release shows.

“Millsap surrendered and was taken into custody without incident shortly before 11 a.m. at his apartment on State Street, Holly Hill,” the release reads.
