PALM BAY, Fla. – A potentially hazardous situation at a business in Palm Bay forced evacuations on Tuesday evening, and a large police and fire rescue presence in the area.
The business is located along Wilhelmina Court NE, off Kingswood Drive NE, west of U.S. 1.
Palm Bay Fire Rescue says the issue involves a container at the FAR Chemical research facility.
According to Assistant Fire Chief John Ringleb, there was a call from workers who said they had a release or spill from a chemical container, prompting first responders to arrive quickly at the scene.
There was a brief release of vapor into the air, but crews ultimately determined that there was no health hazards, investigators added.
Palm Bay Police initially evacuated some businesses in the area as a precaution, with a shelter-in-place order being issued. That order was lifted around 6:20 p.m.
Police also confirmed that there were no injuries reported.
