TITUSVILLE, Fla. – Several neighbors told News 6 the work has been clogging the roadway for months — and they say there are moments when they can’t even leave their homes.
“I would like for them to do what they’re going to do and get up out of here,” said Michael Green, a Gibson Street resident. “The children can’t play on the road… It’s just an inconvenience.”
Green said when construction is underway, it can essentially cut off families on one side of the street because there’s no alternate exit.
“It’s destruction, period,” he said. “You can’t get out. You have to wait until they decide they’re going to fill in a hole so you can get through there.”
The project is part of a **septic-to-sewer conversion** that started in February. The city says the work includes running roughly 1,200 feet of pipe as part of a grant-funded program.
Not everyone is frustrated. Another resident, **Ricky Wallace**, said he doesn’t mind the construction if it leads to long-term improvements.
“I like change,” Wallace said. “You get used to it. But I think it’s a good thing overall… I’d rather be the citizen who has to deal with this now if it helps in the long run.”
Wallace said he believes the upgrade could be cheaper for residents over time.
Crews have created a small passage so residents can get around parts of the construction and still reach their homes, but neighbors said they want clearer answers on how long the disruptions will last.
News 6 spoke with the city, which said it is reviewing the work and working to determine how much longer residents will be impacted.
