Ocala home destroyed in ‘suspicious’ fire, officials say

Crews respond to home on SW 4th Street

OCALA, Fla. – Officials in Marion County are investigating what they’re calling a suspicious fire that destroyed a one-story home.

The fire was reported just after 6:30 a.m. Friday in the 2000 block of SW 4th Street. According to Ocala Fire Rescue, crews arrived on scene and found a one-story home with flames burning through the roof.

No one was inside the home. Firefighters brought the fire under control within about 30 minutes.

No injuries were reported.

Bystanders at the scene told crews the fire may have been intentionally set, firefighters said.

The cause remains under investigation, and the case has been turned over to the Florida State Fire Marshal and the Ocala Police Department.
