Man dies after deputy-involved shooting in Marion Oaks, says sheriff’s office Man threatened deputy with firearm during domestic disturbance call, sheriff’s office says
MARION OAKS, Fla. – A man is dead after a deputy-involved shooting in Marion County Tuesday afternoon, says the Marion County Sheriff’s Office .
Deputies say the man was shot after he threatened the deputy with a firearm.
Deputies responded to a domestic disturbance call on SW 35th Avenue Road, where they encountered the armed man. A deputy opened fire, striking the man.
Marion County Fire Rescue responded to the scene and transported the man to the hospital in critical condition. His name has not been released.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement has been notified and will investigate the shooting, which is standard protocol in officer-involved shootings.
