ATLANTA, Ga. – A Delta air lines flight bound for Orlando, Florida, returned to the Atlanta airport Saturday and evacuated passengers after reports of smoke in the aircraft, the airline said.
The airline said the crew followed procedure and apologized to customers for the inconvenience, adding that safety is its top priority. Flight 2204 was carrying 199 passengers and six crew members.

In radio traffic, the pilot told air traffic control, “Change of plans. We now have smoke in the back and we need to deplane immediately.” Air traffic control responded, “You can stop there and do what you need to.”
Passengers and crew evacuated the aircraft on a taxiway using inflatable slides on the side of the plane. They were taken back to the terminal by bus.
It is unknown at this time what caused the smoke.
