WINTER GARDEN, Fla. – A man is dead following a late-night shooting at a Winter Garden home, police said.
Around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, officers responded to a home on Bethune Avenue. Upon arrival, they found Shariff Simmons, 49, on the ground outside the residence.

Simmons was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said Simmons and other occupants of the residence had been engaged in a card game prior to the shooting. Witnesses are being interviewed, and evidence is being collected as the investigation remains active.
