DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – A Daytona Beach mother was arrested last week after she reportedly attacked a teacher at a local elementary school, according to the police department.

In an arrest affidavit, police said the incident happened on the afternoon of Aug. 13 at Turie T. Smalls Elementary, roughly around the period for dismissal.

At the time, the woman — identified as 26-year-old Lynesia Dorsey — was told by the teacher that parents weren’t allowed in the school during the first week due to safety concerns, police explained.

However, Dorsey instead talked over the teacher, trying to push her way into the front office, the affidavit says.

“However, (the teacher) stood ground and refused to allow Dorsey inside,” the affidavit reads. “Dorsey then used her hands and (punched the teacher) several times in the face.”

The principal and a school resource officer soon got involved to restrain Dorsey, investigators added.

Police said they later spoke with Dorsey, who claimed she punched the teacher because “he leaned on her” and her child, a student at the school.

Now, Dorsey faces a charge of battery on a school board employee. She was released later that evening on bond of $5,000.
