Groveland residents face low water pressure after main break

GROVELAND, Fla. – Groveland crews responded to a large water main break near the Sunshine Water Treatment Plant Tuesday morning, leaving residents with lower-than-normal water pressure.

The city announced the break at 9:15 a.m. Officials said they will notify residents as soon as possible on whether a boil water order or advisory will be issued.

The break is the latest in a string of water problems hitting Groveland in 2026. On Friday, a software error shut down pumps at the Sunshine plant for about 30 minutes, triggering a boil water advisory that has since been lifted.

In June, residents reported dark, rusty water. A lightning strike knocked out power at the plant in July.

The city is working on long-term fixes. In August, the Groveland City Council approved a Clean Water Facility Plan that includes a new wastewater treatment facility expected to cost more than $100 million. The project is not expected to be completed until 2031.
