DELTONA, Fla. – Nick Lulli, Deltona’s District 6 city commissioner, announced his immediate resignation in an email early Wednesday.

In the email, which Lulli sent at 2:35 a.m., he wrote about being “no longer eligible” to serve in the role as of that day, citing the terms of the city charter. Regarding those terms, the message did not elaborate beyond stating, “I look forward to connecting once I have a moment to catch my breath,” potentially suggesting more information could be shared later.

Lulli got Deltona’s District 6 commissioner seat in the November 2024 election, taking 51% of the vote to beat incumbent JodyLee Storozuk.

The city commission has to appoint a replacement in 30 days. The District 6 seat will go on to appear on the 2026 ballot.

The commission’s next meeting is scheduled for Sept. 3 at 6:30 p.m.
