Lineup of Latin stars to host Orlando voter rally Sunday

America Ferrera, Eva Longoria, Gina Rodriguez urge Floridians to vote

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Think of the biggest names of Latin American actors, and you can probably guess who is coming Sunday to Kissimmee to host a voter rally ahead of Election Day.

America Ferrera, Eva Longoria, Gina Rodriguez, Rosario Dawson and Zoe Saldana have teamed up with political action committee the Latino Victory Fund to urge Floridians, specifically Florida's Hispanic voters, to turn out and vote on Tuesday.

The rally Sunday starts at 10 a.m. at Infantry Veterans Park on Buenaventura Boulevard.

Florida's Democratic gubernatorial candidate, Andrew Gillum, is relying on Florida's large Puerto Rican and Hispanic population to help him become the first Democrat to hold the Sunshine State's top office in 24 years.

Gillum's wife, R. Jai Gillum, will be at the rally Sunday, along with Rep. Nydia Velazquez, the first Puerto Rican woman to be elected to U.S. Congress, and Rep. Darren Soto.

Gillum faces President Donald Trump's pick for Florida governor, Rep. Ron DeSantis, on Nov. 6.

Meanwhile, DeSantis plans to spend the weekend stumping in Tampa and Lakeland.

All eyes are also on the pivotal race for U.S. Senate, which Sen. Bill Nelson has held for more than 20 years. Gov. Rick Scott is trying to win the seat and the two have been highly critical of each other's records and platforms for change.

"I have tried to save the environment and my opponent has tried to destroy it," Nelson said recently.

During a rally in Orlando on Friday, Scott fired up supporters alongside South Carolina Sen. Lindsay Graham as he spoke about how he wants Scott to join him in Washington and help keep control of the Republican Senate.

"We're going to have a big win on Tuesday because people are getting out to vote. We're doing well so far and people are continuing to vote, it's going to be fun," Scott said.
