LOCKHART, Fla. – A 19-year-old man was killed and another was injured early Tuesday in a shooting at an Orange County condominium complex, deputies said.
The Orange County Sheriff's Office said deputies were called at 4:11 a.m. to the Magnolia Court condos on Forest City Road and found two victims suffering from gunshot wounds.
Deputies said Matthew Jafari died in the shooting, and Sasmon Tavares, also 19, had non-life-threatening injuries.
Tavares was found at a nearby gas station and told deputies that his friend was still inside the apartment complex near the tennis courts, according to the report. Deputies found Jafari next to an apartment building where he was pronounced dead at 4:48 a.m.
Homicide detectives have arrested Benjamin Heyward Jr., 31, on first-degree murder charges.
A fire was also reported at 9:04 a.m. at the condo complex. Deputies could not confirm if it was connected to the shooting.
Heavy smoke was pouring out of a second-story window.
It's not known if anyone was injured.

It's not the first time a fatal shooting has been reported at Magnolia Court.
Two men were shot and killed at the condo complex in October. Deputies identified the victims as Brandon Williams, 27, and Kilomonie Norman, 20. No arrests have been made.
Deputies said they've been called to the complex more than 260 times since 2014.
