Sinkhole discovered in Citra, officials say

Hole measures 9 feet wide by 5 feet deep

CITRA, Fla. – A new sinkhole was discovered by the Marion County Sheriff's Office Tuesday morning in Citra.

The sinkhole, measuring 9 feet across and 5 feet deep, was located in the eastbound lane of 300th block of East Highway 318, the Sheriff's Office said.

Engineers are working to repair the sinkhole, but drivers are to avoid the area. Highway 318 is closed between Highway 301 and Highway 441. Local traffics will be rerouted to 165th Street between 411 and 301.
