ORLANDO, Fla. – University of Central Florida's annual homecoming tradition, Spirit Splash, will not only feature highly coveted ducks signed by first-year President Dale Whittaker, but Whittaker himself will join students in rushing into the iconic Reflecting Pond on Friday at 1 p.m.
Whittaker challenged students in a video on Twitter saying, "If 50,000 students attend our home games before Spirit Splash, I am getting in the Reflecting Pond!"

He tweeted Monday confirming his challenge was accepted by students.
Alright @UCFDannyWhite, since our students rose to the challenge, I guess I’m going for a swim! I will see you all in the pond at Spirit Splash this Friday! pic.twitter.com/TzmlOYEZqS

Spirit Splash is one of the biggest events of the year, where students take part in a pep rally in front of Millican Hall and charge into the pond. This is the only time students are allowed to be in the water.
Exclusively designed homecoming ducks are thrown out during this event. This year, Whittaker has signed 40 of these ducks, and students who find them can join him for lunch next semester.
I've signed my initials on 40 ducks that are going to be thrown out at Spirit Splash tomorrow. Catch one of these exclusive ducks, and you'll get a President's Dive Club tee and lunch with me early next semester! pic.twitter.com/xQHH6UmVH6
