UCF students weigh in on 'The Dress' colors

Most think differing opinions can be explained by biology

ORLANDO, Fla. – By now, you've likely seen the dress. You've determined it's either blue and black, or gold and white and inevitably have learned not everyone agrees with you.

"It's fascinating because people take this so seriously," said one UCF student. "People are up in arms."

Students around the University of Central Florida campus said they've been staring at a picture of the dress all day.

The picture itself went viral on Thursday afternoon with the image spreading like a wildfire on social media. One student said he had made up his mind that the dress was black and blue, but was surprised to learn his girlfriend didn't agree.

"My girlfriend told me yesterday she can only see white and gold," he said. "She's not the smartest."

Everyone seems to have an opinion, and it's exactly that -- an opinion. Still, as impossible as it may seem, there are still those who have not seen the dress at all.

"I don't understand why there's a debate," said a student who had just seen the picture for the first time. "It's just a dress. It's black and blue. What's the controversy?"

Wherever they come out on the debate, most think the differing opinions can be explained by biology. One student looked at the picture over 20 times. He said some times he sees black and blue, other times gold and white.

"It's about the cones and rods in your eyes," he said. "It has to be a science thing."
