Woman dies after motorcycle crash with wrong-way driver, troopers say

Officials say motorcycle's driver suffered critical injuries

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – One woman is dead after a motorcycle crash Sunday with a wrong-way driver in Orange County, according to officials from the Florida Highway Patrol. 

According to the crash report, the victim, 44-year-old Lateisha Rhodes, was a passenger on the motorcycle. The motorcycle's driver, whose name has not been released, suffered critical injuries and is being treated at Orlando Regional Medical Center.

The crash occurred near mile marker 9 on State Road 414, also known as the Apopka Expressway, around 3:25 a.m. Troopers said a 2014 Kia was traveling east in the westbound lanes of the road. Officials said the Kia hit the front of the motorcycle, which was traveling with traffic, throwing the driver and Rhodes off.

Troopers said charges are pending against the driver of the Kia, who suffered minor injuries.
