What’s going on, guys?! Meteorologist Jonathan Kegges back with you for another edition of Tropics Watch!
So last week I mentioned that there were no signals for significant development. Emphasis on the significant.

Over the weekend the NHC highlighted an area off the Southeast coast of the U.S.
There is currently a low chance for development over the next couple of days.
This setup, a cold front stalling over the warm Atlantic waters, is exactly why I didn’t completely rule out development over the next several weeks.
Even if this system can organize...it has about a 48 hour window from 8 p.m. Monday evening, it shouldn’t be able to get too strong.
The GoogleDeep Mind AI model which has done very well since its inception last year is no longer bullish on development of the disturbance.
This is exactly the area and setup we would watch for tropical development in July.
Later in the month, climatology expands into the Caribbean.
The deep tropics are still shut down with no real significant threat anytime soon. Have a great Fourth of July!
