BAY LAKE, Fla. – After a year-long closure, an iconic EPCOT attraction is ready to zip Disney World guests into a brighter tomorrow.
Reopening on July 22, Test Track presented by General Motors takes guests on a journey through automotive innovation, featuring a familiar vehicle simulation, but with new indoor scenes and technology, all leading up to the high-speed race on the outdoor track.
“This is the third generation of Test Track here at EPCOT, and it’s really a celebration of humanity’s enduring drive to innovate in the world of transportation. It’s all about this idea that we’re dreaming about new technology," said Dan Brookwell, Senior Production Designer for Walt Disney Imagineering.

The experience begins in the queue, where visitors encounter exhibits featuring General Motors’ concept vehicles dating back to the early 1900s. These displays highlight the company’s rich history, all while looking ahead to the future of sustainability and vehicle design.
Unlike Test Track 2.0, guests won’t have a role in designing a vehicle and then testing its performance. Much of the reimagined Test Track queue tees up stories that are featured in the ride portion of the attraction.
New scenes, such as a garage, sunset vista, and a futuristic skyline, show off the cutting-edge technology both inside and outside the vehicle.
Much like the ride itself, the theming has come full circle. Test Track first opened in 1998 before becoming Test Track 2.0 in 2012. Test Track 3.0 pulls inspiration from past and current attractions, like Spaceship Earth and World of Motion, the EPCOT opening-day attraction that Test Track replaced.
“We really wanted it to feel rooted in EPCOT and really respect the legacy of what’s happened in this pavilion and in this park,” Brookwell said.
Before its official reopening on July 22, Test Track 3.0 will have previews for Disney Vacation Club (DVC) members and Annual Passholders. DVC members can register for their preview on July 12, with registration opening on July 8 for those with qualifying resort reservations.
Annual Passholder previews will be held on July 13-16 and July 18-19. A park reservation is needed to join the virtual queue, with opportunities available at 7 a.m. and 1 p.m.
