ORLANDO, Fla. – The end is near for Lost Continent.
Universal Orlando Resort has confirmed the area at Universal Islands of Adventure will close in phases over the coming months to make way for a new themed land. That transition will include the permanent closure of Mythos Restaurant in 2027.
The area has been shrinking in recent years, with the Eighth Voyage of Sindbad stunt show permanently closed in September 2018 after a 19-year run, and Poseidon’s Fury followed in May 2023. Construction walls have been up at the former Sindbad theater site since early 2026.
Universal has not yet revealed what will replace the area.

Also at Islands of Adventure, Thunder Falls Terrace will close this summer and be reimagined as an all-new, full-service dining concept. Universal says the rethemed restaurant will become the new signature dining destination inside Islands of Adventure when it opens in 2027.
Horror Make-Up Show gets reimagined
One of Universal Studios Florida’s longest-running attractions is getting a makeover. The Horror Make-Up Show will temporarily close on May 12 to make way for a revamped experience set to debut later this year.
The updated show will blend classic and modern horror properties with what Universal promises will be “shockingly fun surprises,” all while preserving the comedic, irreverent tone fans have come to expect.
Joey Fatone brings hot dogs, Italian ice to CityWalk
Universal CityWalk is getting a celebrity-backed newcomer. Fat One’s Hot Dogs & Italian Ice — founded by *NSYNC member Joey Fatone and his manager Joe Mulvihill — is set to take over the space currently occupied by Hot Dog Hall of Fame, which will close in July.
The new concept will serve a lineup of creative, flavor-packed hot dogs, Italian ices and more.
CityWalk is also seeing a wave of additions, including the recently opened Universal Legacy Store, Five Guys coming this summer, and country music star Luke Combs’ live music venue Category 10 slated for 2027.
Universal says additional details on all announced projects will be released in the months ahead.
