ORLANDO, Fla. – Universal Orlando is closing because of Hurricane Irma, the park announced on Friday.
"Due to Hurricane Irma, our destination will close at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 9. We will be fully closed on Sunday and Monday and we anticipate normal operating hours on Tuesday, Sept. 12," the park said on its website.

The closure will include Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, Volcano Bay and CityWalk.
Universal Orlando’s on-site hotels are currently at full capacity and will remain operational.
Rock the Universe will take place Friday night at Universal Studios Florida. The event, however, is canceled for Saturday night and Sunday morning. Saturday ticket-holders can attend the Friday event.
The Blue Man Group shows at the park for Saturday and Sunday have also been canceled. Ticket refunds can be obtained at the point of purchase.
"We’re continuing to monitor Hurricane Irma and bringing you the latest information on how it will affect any planned visits to Universal Orlando Resort," the park said.
SeaWorld and Legoland are also closing ahead of Irma, a Category 4 hurricane projected to hit Central Florida.
Walt Disney World has not announced closures of its major theme parks. One of Disney's water parks, Blizzard Beach, will be closed Friday and Saturday.
