Fantasy Basketball Values: Why you should cut ties with a big riser, and add an underrated faller
Week 13 of the NBA season is behind us, and now it's time to reflect, overreact and assess the fantasy basketball landscape. We're taking a more microscopic approach this week, focusing on a top-value riser to trade away and a faller to trade for. Riser: Mason Plumlee - C, Charlotte HornetsCurrent per-game rank:133Plumlee's recent surge up the rankings has been one of the biggest surprises halfway through the season. Andrew Wiggins returned Saturday from missing 15 games for both a strained muscle in his right upper leg and a non-COVID illness. The Warriors went 6-5 without him, but had lost two straight at home for the first time all season. The 34-year-old career 3-point leader entered the game averaging 30.0 points, 6.8 assists and 6.6 rebounds in his 14th NBA season. In an on-court ceremony before the game, Curry was set to present brother-in-law Damion Lee — now with the Suns following four years on the Warriors — his championship ring from last season's title run.
wftv.comFantasy Basketball Trade Analyzer: Now's the perfect time to deal for one of these underrated players
Some players who are third or fourth options on their real-life teams are some of the best fantasy assets in the NBA. Jaren Jackson Jr., Memphis GrizzliesNine-category, per-game value: 12The oft-injured Jackson missed the season's first month while recovering from foot surgery. Trying to pry Jackson away from a rival manager will be challenging, given Jackson's 3.3 blocks and 1.0 steals per game. It would be hard to lose a trade for Jackson unless you're handing away someone truly elite like Luka Doncic or Jayson Tatum. Similar to Wiggins, he's without glaring weaknesses, and he's keeping his turnovers low.

wftv.comFantasy Basketball Rankings: Whose value is rising and falling after the first full week of NBA action?
RISERSAndrew Wiggins - SG/SF, Golden State Warriors — Current per-game rank: 5thI can't make a riser list that doesn't include Andrew Wiggins. I had to do a double-take when I saw that he's currently fifth overall in per-game value through the first week of the 22-23 NBA season. John Collins - PF/C, Atlanta Hawks — Current per-game rank: 6thIt's very early, but the initial results of the Dejounte Murray and Trae Young experiment look promising. Myles Turner - PF/C, Indiana Pacers — Current per-game rank: 474stI drafted Myles Turner in a very competitive league, and I came away feeling great. He's currently 171st in per-game value, and the Celtics' small-ball lineups could be of concern for Horford's future outlook.
wftv.comAre the Warriors preparing for a future without Draymond Green?
And, perhaps most importantly: What would they do about the four vital pieces who'd just become eligible for contract extensions? The weekend before the 2022-23 NBA season provided clarity on that last front. Green holds a $27.6 million player option for 2023-24 — one that, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, he will "almost assuredly" exercise. “My general view of the year is I'm here this year trying to win a championship,” Green told reporters last week. Or maybe, when the Warriors begin their title defense on Tuesday night, they’re also beginning the end of an era.

Poole and Wiggins quickly became close once Wiggins arrived in a trade from the Timberwolves in February 2020. "It wouldn’t have been as special if we didn’t win a championship,” said Poole, who credited his “mental toughness” and faith for overcoming any obstacle that comes his way.
