Pujols hits grand slam, leads Wainwright, Cards over Rockies
ST. LOUIS — (AP) — Albert Pujols launched a pinch-hit grand slam and drove in five runs, Adam Wainwright pitched seven sharp innings and the St. Louis Cardinals routed the Colorado Rockies 13-0 Thursday for a three-game sweep. The Rockies lost starting pitcher Antonio Senzatela and right fielder Charlie Blackmon in the second inning to leg injuries. St. Louis has won 12 of its last 13 home games and has taken 12 straight from the Rockies at Busch Stadium. Pujols hit his 690th career home run, connecting off Austin Gomber and capping a five-run third that made it 10-0. St. Louis went 5-1 in the games against Colorado and Milwaukee.

Machado's cleat appeared to slip across the top of the bag and he fell to the ground, his left leg buckling beneath him. The All-Star third baseman clearly was in pain, grimacing and clasping his hands around his lower left leg. He later sat up but was unable to put weight on the injured leg.

Trailing 3-2, the 40-year-old Pujols lined a fastball from Carlos Estevez (1-3) into the empty seats in left-center for his 660th homer. Pujols now trails only Barry Bonds (762), Hank Aaron (755), Babe Ruth (714) and Alex Rodriguez (696) on the career home run list. It was a crazy day at the plate for the Angels, who had more walks (10) than hits (six). The Angels took two of three from Rockies and wrapped up a six-game trip with a 3-3 mark.
