ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Orange County sheriff’s deputies packed into a courtroom on Monday, upset over a possible plea deal. Two Orange County deputies made impact statements telling the judge a deal cut with a man they said tried to kill them isn’t what they hoped for. Williams was charged with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He could have gotten 30 plus years in jail, but the plea deal presented means Williams will only spend 15 years behind bars. According to the sheriff’s office, other responding deputies got into a foot pursuit with Avery Williams, during which he fired his gun at the deputies. At least one of the deputies returned fire, striking Avery Williams. Avery Williams was additionally charged with attempted murder for shooting at his brother.
