Queen Elizabeth II's coffin takes long road through Scotland
EDINBURGH, Scotland — (AP) — Queen Elizabeth II's flag-draped coffin slowly processed through the rugged Scottish countryside Sunday on a final days-long journey from her beloved Balmoral Castle to London. The late queen's coffin was draped in the Royal Standard for Scotland and topped with a wreath made of flowers from the estate, including sweet peas, one of the queen's favorites. Hours before the coffin's arrival in Edinburgh, the Scottish capital, people turned out early to grab a space by police barricades. The queen's coffin was taking a circuitous journey back to the capital. Elizabeth Taylor, from Aberdeen, had tears in her eyes after the hearse carrying the queen's coffin passed through Ballater.

Report: State Dept official quits over Trump race response
WASHINGTON A State Department official resigned Thursday over President Donald Trump's response to racial tensions sweeping the country over the killings of black people by police, The Washington Post reported. Mary Elizabeth Taylor, the assistant secretary of state for legislative affairs, said in her resignation letter that Trump's actions cut sharply against my core values and convictions." The State Department declined to comment in response to a question from The Associated Press. We do not comment on personnel matters, the State Department said in an emailed response to a request for information about Taylors resignation. There was no immediate explanation for why the State Department officials, including Pompeo and other top aides, had chosen to comment extensively on the decision to fire the departments Inspector General Steve Linick in May.

(CNN) - Synonymous with Hollywood glamor and style, Elizabeth Taylor's life off-screen became as famed as her on-screen exploits. Now, the Oscar-winning star's custom-built convertible car, nicknamed "the Green Goddess" is expected to fetch up to $2 million at a New York auction. According to New York auction house Guernsey's, which will host the sale next week, Taylor ordered the Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II Drophead following her marriage to singer Eddie Fisher. Known by her fans as the "Green Goddess", the car was delivered to The Pierre Hotel, where Taylor was living in New York, at Christmas. In 1962, Taylor traveled to Rome to start filming for the big-budget epic "Cleopatra", where she was cast in the starring role -- traveling with husband Fisher and "the Green Goddess" in tow.
