Tom Brady or Greg Olsen? Fox has a future decision to make on its No. 1 analyst
Fox promoted Olsen along with play by plan man Kevin Burkhardt on what was a de facto interim basis. Tom Brady is, of course, Tom Brady, a seven-time Super Bowl champion and internationally famous icon. And while the public might all know Tom Brady, that doesn't mean they'll like him calling games. Either way, it’s still a great gig for Olsen, and Fox has to love that it has such depth. Either way, Olsen will be on the mic on Sunday.

wftv.comWitness: Bribes helped Fox execs get soccer TV rights
He said the payments Lopez and Martinez are accused of making to South American Football Confederation officials helped Fox squeeze out competitors and secured the rights to tournaments for below-market costs. Lopez, a native of Argentina, is the former chief executive of Fox International Channels and later operated a podcasting venture. Another sports media and marketing company, Full Play Group SA, is on trial with Lopez and Martinez, but the bribery allegations against that company involve different TV rights. During opening arguments Tuesday, Assistant U.S. Attorney Victor Zapana told jurors that millions of dollars in bribes fed a system of clandestine, no-bid contracts that “allowed disloyal soccer executives to live a life of luxury." Lawyers for Lopez and Martinez have asserted that the former executives are being framed, with one defense lawyer accusing Burzaco of masterminding the bribes.

“The bribes fulfilled that purpose extremely well,” said Burzaco, who has acknowledged his role in the scheme. The bribes, Burzaco said in U.S. District Court in Brooklyn, helped Fox squeeze out competitors and secured the rights to tournaments for below-market costs. Lopez, a native of Argentina, is the former chief executive of Fox International Channels and later operated a podcasting venture. Together, the former business partners funneled millions of dollars to soccer officials in exchange for favorable terms on broadcasting rights, Burzaco testified. Nevertheless, the scandal thrust the organization under worldwide scrutiny, and it has since sought to polish its tarnished image.

“Everyone won except for the game of soccer,” Zapana said at the trial in Brooklyn federal court, which is expected to last at least a month. The company sold the entity involved in the South American soccer broadcasts in 2019 as part of a larger restructuring in which it offloaded its movie studio, cable networks and international assets. Another sports media and marketing company, Full Play Group SA, is on trial with Lopez and Martinez, but the bribery allegations against that firm involve different TV rights. Gleeson said Burzaco was now falsely accusing them to enhance his worth to prosecutors and stay out of jail. Gleeson said Burzaco shut the executives out of negotiations with CONMEBOL and refused to provide them with copies of contracts.
