State Regulators Approve Decontamination and Closure Plan of Crystal River Nuke Plant
State regulators Tuesday approved a plan aimed at dramatically speeding up the decontamination and restoration of the site of Duke Energy Floridas shuttered Crystal River nuclear-power plant. The Florida Public Service Commission backed Dukes plan to enter a $540 million contract with the firm Accelerated Decommissioning Partners, LLC to conduct what is known as decommissioning work at the plant. The plan is aimed at moving up the completion of the decommissioning work from 2074 to 2038. Money for the project is slated to come from a trust fund that received money from customers from 1982 to 2002, according to the Public Service Commission. Commissioners approved the decommissioning plan Tuesday with little discussion, after holding a detailed hearing last month.flaglerlive.com

6 Orlando players score in double figures as Magic beat Denver in scrimmage
ORLANDO, Fla. Six Orlando Magic players scored in double figures as the team beat the Denver Nuggets 114-10 in a scrimmage on Monday. Gary Clark had the most points in the game, he finished the scrimmage with 17. Nikola Vucevic had 10 points and seven rebounds in the game. Jamal Murray finished the game with 23 points for Denver. The Magic will begin restart play on Friday, Orlando will play against the Brooklyn Nets.

TALLAHASSEE An additional area code, the states 20th, was approved for the Tampa region Tuesday as numbers in the decades-old 813 area code are running out. With the implementation of the additional area code, the region isnt expected to need another area code for 37 years. The administrator forecast last year that the 813 area code would run out in 2022. The 813 area code, the second oldest in Florida, was created in 1953 and served a 16-county region from Pasco County to inland portions of Monroe County. It was split to create the 941 area code in 1995 and the 727 area code in 1998.ocala.com
