Florida zookeeper โviciouslyโ attacked by bear, report shows
The 35-year-old zookeeper who was โviciouslyโ attacked Wednesday by a 5-year-old North American black bear at the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens suffered many lacerations on her head, back and thighs, according to a police report obtained Thursday by News 6 partner News4JAX.
Male jaguar mauls female jaguar to death at Florida zoo

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ A female jaguar was killed by a male jaguar in a holding complex at the zoo, according to a news release Tuesday from the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens. The zoo said the 21-year-old female jaguar Zenta was killed late Saturday. It said the incident occurred when the 12-year-old male jaguar Harry was brought in to a holding complex to be examined after he ingested โpieces of an enrichment item,โ News 6 partner News4Jax reported. The animal health team was called to immobilize Harry, but Zenta had already died when they arrived.
Pictures show rescued manatee arriving at SeaWorld
ORLANDO, Fla. โ SeaWorld came to the rescue by caring for an orphaned manatee calf that was reported last week by a good Samaritan in Daytona Beach. Staff from Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens, the Volusia County Stranding Team, and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation arrived at the Halifax Harbor Marina to rescue the 64-pound, 4-foot animal with a hoop net. The calf was then taken to SeaWorld in Orlando, where the orphaned mammal is receiving special attention. According to FWC, manatees range throughout Florida waters, and the major threats to the endangered species include death from human-related causes and habitat loss.
